Firstly, this place has a ceiling covered in various lampshades, a wall mosaic of floppy discs, and bar front made of VHS tapes. Flights arrive in beat up cigar boxes. Modern Times also produces their own coffee, experimenting with things like bourbon aged beans, so coffee stouts and similar are huge for this brewery. I'd recommend all of these three beers I tried on tap.

Blazing World Someone in my group got this in a flight, didn't like it, and pushed it in my general direction. I've never had a beer quite like this. It's a very, very amber red ale but with a curiously dry finish and high hop bitterness of Nelson, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. Really a combination of many things I love and rounded out by a grassy, earthy flavor. Black House Stout a/ coconut and cocoa nibs This version of Black House tastes exactly like a dark chocolate bar with toasted coconut in it. Lovely chocolate and espresso malt flavors but with a relatively low ABV and thin body for an oatmeal stout. I haven't tried the other flavors of this stout but damn this is super smooth and a couple snifters of this could definitely carry me through a late night pub philosophizing session. Devil's Teeth This one was a beast. If there'sa Baltic Porter on tap I have to order it. Devil's Teeth is a singular hybrid between an Old Ale and Baltic Porter. Rich dark malts and dark fruit esters, it's sweet with red wine tannin flavors. At >10,% it's got a fairly boozy character and improves as it warms to room temperature. While high in hop bitterness it doesn't have that west coast hop scent that seems to cut through everything - more like an earthy noble hop scent. There's a lot going on here.
